This morning, it looked as if the doldrums are preparing for their very best. The wind was down, the sea glassy, and the swell got very long.
So I decided to look at the hull were at some spots, which can’t be copper coated, I removed barnacles. Water in- and outlets, keel coolers, and the Zink anode etc. I was secured with a line Tjasa was my safeguard at deck. She did a very good job.
I was out of the water and just ready to sit down and relax, when some wind escaped from the wind stealing monkey with the tin tool. No choice. Quick wind angle calculation shows that we can run south using the gennaker, the perfect light wind sail when wind angle and needed course match.
Today, Dennis and Tjasa got the gennaker up and flying. Pretty well done. In trimming and SOG optimization I got involved again. Today I decided to go with the gennaker up to 62 deg AWA. MaRe accepted this challenging wind vane angle.
Since then we are running south. And at the end of the day we definitely will have some miles towards the SE trade winds made good.
Life on board – the last mango went via Tjasa made fruit salad into our stomachs for lunch.
Tonight we have the 2nd half of a lentils stew, Dennis made last night.
Apropos night, I’m curious what the wind will do .
