Lautoka is town 10 km to the North of Saveni Bay our current anchorage.
We planned to go by 0800 to Lautoka. A guy, Henk & Maria met the day before, offered them to bring them into Lautoka by car. A generous offer!
A quarter to 0800, Henk & Marja passed us. Joe was nit yet out of her cabine. Thus, I gave up the idea to go with them.
When we arrived a while later at the beach and had MaRe’s tender tied up with two anchors, in the sand, a Fijian guy started talking to us offering transportation as well but not today because he had drunk already.
During our talk on the shore the sailor of one of our neighbor boats came. The Fijian guy knew him already well. Doug, so his name, lives on his beautiful elderly boat at an extremly low budget. 2 FDJ $ / day (0.80 €) he claims. I have my doubts: this is even less than the famous Austrian sailor Wolfgang Hauser mentioned in the 1970s.
Conversation switched and we walked with him to the little shop around the corner. He has an old car there and gave Joe and me a ride until the main road to catch a bus.
At the bus stop we met Henk & Marja again. The guy who promised to pick them up did not show up. However, just when Marja finished her story, a car stopped and here he was and the 4 of us got a ride to Lautoka.
We still had breakfast together. Thereafter we split in 3 groups as we had all different items of interest.
I searched for technical stuff and look at the shops and into the shops along my way.
