… what Raymarine thinks about getting antennae cables inside a boat which means the cable has to go through a cable gland.
Yesterday, I thought I can get the new cable through the cable gland of the old GPS antennae cable. However the new cable has a connector with an almost 20 mm diameter for cable of only 5 mm diameter. The design is made for cheap production and does not consider installing it on a boat.
As I don’t have the necessary tools and a suitable cable gland on board I needed to call a Raymarine service provider. Now I wait for there response to see if they can come today so we can sail tomorrow.
Please keep fingers crossed.
As it was clear they don’t make it yesterday. My old friend Ljubica and her husband came and took us by ferry from Devonport to the center of Auckland, where we had a drink and talked on the top floor of a high-rise at the waterfront with a magnificent view over the bay and along the waterline. We had a nice late afternoon.
Now I wonder if the technician can come today with the right tools and a new suitable cable gland.
