As assumed the wind sneaked around the nothern corner of Fatu-Hiva.
We have 4 – 5 Bft wind from E, having reef 1 in the main, the genoa is fully out, MaRe sails with around 7 KN on course using track mode. (The autopilot steers to the next WPT.)
The wind waves are still of level 2, meaning between 10 and 50 cm. The primary swell is running towards MaRe from about STB 150 deg and is around a meter high but only about 50 m long. The longer it is, the more smooth the sailing will be. However, there is also a secondary swell from a more southern direction, which makes the sea a bit choppy and in turn, the choppy sea rocks MaRe.
Today, the sky is almost cloudless, less than a 1/8, meaning less than 1/8 of the sky is covered with clouds.
The wind is warm but not hot.
It’s simply nice sailing!
All I’m missing is a chocolate chips cookie the skipper of MaRe is supposed to bake. “Lazy bum, bake cookies!”
