Just when I uploaded the previous narration, Wal got a bite. He immediately recognized it’s a big fish on the hook.
Wall uses the the fighting belt to get the fish in cm by cm.
I worsens the genoa trim to show down MaRe. It was not enough and I reduced the genoa to a handkerchief then MaRe allowed down below 3 KN.
After almost a 1 h fight, Wal got the fish in. A bit more than 1 m long. But checking the forward back fin showed Wal caught a barakuda.
As we have plenty of coral reefs around, bBTWit must be considered that the barakuda is poisonous. Picture were taken and the barakuda was given back to the sea.
My Japanese sailing friend Shi and I call the barakuda “bakkakuda”, the idiot-fish because they cause a lot of work but can’t be eaten.
BTW, Wal got now the other to catch a tuna. The skipper wants to sashimi.
