220316 Sailing against the trade wind

As we wanted to go to St John we needed to sail upwind against the trade winds. So we did it and tacked several times and finally made a spot landing at the first bay we wanted to go to.

Sailing upwind against 5 Bft was an intensive and exhausting time. The swell first was rather short with wave height of 1 – 2 m. Later during the day it became longer. MaRe climbed up the waves and glided them down. Depending on the wave conditions she ran from just below 3 on to more than 7 kn.

After we dropped the anchor, and cleared up the boat we were tired but happy. The friends on board sailed for the first time enjoyed the day.
