A late but important message

There are several reasons for the delayed message today.

First, we had a long breakfast with lots of extremely important topics. Amorg other ” Männer sind Schweine” (literal translation: “men are pigs”; it’s more for Germans living in Germany knowing this song).

Then A and R discussed – lying on the port side mat at the bow, and looking to the mast – a crazy idea of combining sails and how to set them. No need to write more. At the very end the idea was sunk into the about 4000 m deep Atlantic Ocean beneath is.

Setting gennaker, grinding flour, writing log book and other tasks took setting time.

Last important thing – and this is neither a joke or very ironic but damned serious.

We had a problem with the iridium phone. We could not log on. Normal shut down procedure did not work. Thus a new initialization was not possible. We had to remove the battery to enable a fresh initialization. Thereafter, we could connect again. All looks normal.

However, we recognized that this is our only communication life line with you. Thus, we thought what you might think if no more narratives are to be seen here, you might not even see our position changing, no SMS or emails anymore are send from all of us. Let’s be honest, it can happen that the iridium might fail and we can’t get it up and running again. DON’T assume we are sunk!!! We will contact you as soon as we have any other means to reach you.

In the meantime we are flying again the genoa on port side, and on starboard the 20 m2 jibsail.

Beside above , we enjoy MaRe running constantly towards Sint Maarten, in a pleasant sea with a long (=comfortable!!!l swell from around ENE; in the meantime under the night sky with all the magnificent stars above us.
