Today I have to steer a bit a difficult course. At the beginning I need to go straight N. Since an hour or so I need to dodge the Maiana atoll, which is just some 15 NM ahead. I’ll pass it is west side.
I’m using the wind vane mode and have to adjust the wind vane angle to the wind. And when the wind changes too much, I have to make adjustments. Since I have to do these adjustments the changes directions more often and stronger.
I was wondering why the changes are suddenly so frequent and strong and found the route cause. The monkey with the tin tool is here again and manipulates the wind direction just to keep me busy.
As I don’t want to arrive early at the entrance to the Tarawa atoll, I keep sails pretty untrimmed today. That’s the easiest way to slow down.
The later I arrive at today’s destination, the less hours I have to heave-to, and the less hours I have to sail back to the atoll’s entrance.
